When Does Florida’s 2022 Tax Free Holiday Begin?

This year, Florida’s Back To School Sales Tax Holiday begins Monday, July 25th. While in past years it has typically only been a weekend long, this year the holiday will last until Sunday, August 7th. 

What Is Sales Tax Free?

During the Florida Tax Free Holiday, you can purchase the following sales tax free:

  • Clothing, footwear, and accessories for $100 or less per item
  • School supplies for $50 or less per item
  • Learning aids for $30 or less
  • Personal computers/computer accessories for $1,500 or less.

What Type of Clothing Is Included?

In 2022, there’s a multitude of tax-exempt clothing and accessories with a sales price of $100 or less. It includes, but isn’t limited to: 

  • Fitness clothing
  • Baby clothing
  • Backpacks
  • Bathing suits
  • Blouses
  • Dresses
  • Formal clothing
  • Hats
  • Jackets
  • Jeans
  • Purses
  • Shoes
  • Shorts
  • Skirts
  • Sleepwear
  • Socks
  • Much more

What Type of Computers/Electronics Are Included?

When it comes to computers and electronics, it’s limited to personal computers (laptops and desktops, handheld devices, tablets) that are used exclusively for noncommercial use with a sales price of $1,500 or less. This means no cell phones, video game systems, entertainment centers, etc. 

Acceptable items also include:

  • Monitors
  • Keyboards
  • Mice
  • Hard drives
  • Microphones
  • Printers
  • Computer speakers
  • Web cameras

What Isn’t Tax Free?

While there’s a variety of items that are tax-free during the holiday, keep in mind that there are also various items you won’t be able to claim. These are:

  • Clothes over $100
  • School supplies over $50
  • Learning aids over $30
  • Computers/Computer accessories over $1,500
  • Computers/Computer accessories used for commercial purpose
